When the Cats Away...the Mice will Play!!!

A couple of years ago my grandparents went on a trip to California for about 6 weeks and ended up being gone over their anniversary. Jess & I figured that if they didn't want to celebrate with us...we would celebrate for them, without them. :) So we ever so kindly arranged a party at their house in honor of them. :) (hey...when you're gone for 6 weeks, have 9 kids, 14 grand kids & 3 great-grand kids, you can't expect nothing to happen!!) Anyway, we celebrated took a bunch of pictures-had them developed and then just before they came home we decorated their house with all the pictures we took of our evening. It was quite fun! So much fun, that my grandparents are again in Cali...its been about 5 weeks that they've been gone...and of course we had to have a little party-and that party took place a couple of weeks ago. The only things that were different was 1.my grandma was kind enough to make us supper before she left!! and 2. they knew what night we were getting together. So, here are a few of the pictures that were taken at our party--I had a hard time choosing out of like 100+ pictures!! We started the night off by grilling up some pork steak wrapped in bacon, Emma & my mom tended to the corn and snickers salad and Jess was in charge of getting the cheesy potatoes cooked. Grandma really out-did herself! Supper was awesome! She even baked up some cup-cakes for dessert! :)

I'm smiling so bright b/c I opted out of doing the dishes...you see, Aunt Barb and I ALWAYS end up doing the dishes when it comes to family get togethers. We figure its because we are the first borns, therefore we are the more responsible ones. :)

Before supper, we each had our turn chatting with Grandma on the phone...I'm not sure where Grandpa was, but Grandma was making salsa when we called. :)

Jess turned her 'phone time' into a little photo shoot-as she was trying on a few different shirts of grandma's.

Hayden seems to be so thrilled to be a part of our crazy family!

The night ended with a very intense game of pictionary...'go blue' against 'hooters' Team hooters won of course. :) Now I just need to get the pictures developed so we can properly decorate their house!

That is such a fun idea - I am sure that you Grandparents thought that was awesome and could feel the love! Jill
