Preschool

Last night Emma and I went to South Side Christian to an open house for preschool. I really had no idea what to expect. All I knew was there would be a speaker for the first part-and then classroom tours and activities for the second part. Well, I found out when we got there that you drop off your children in the classroom and the adults go to the gym for the speakers portion. I was holding back tears-I'm totally blaming this one on being pregnant. As we walked the hallway to the preschool classroom, Emma started to get clingy. I asked the teacher if she doesn't want to stay may she come with me? That was totally OK. The teacher put the name tag on Emma, gave me my number-and she took off! There were so many toys to play with-she didn't know where to start first. She headed to a group of girls-and that was my cue to sneak out. She did great, didn't cry-and I didn't cry. :) She told me that they played for a while, sang some songs (but she didn't sing) and then did a little craft. I was so proud of her! The speaker Ken Horn was really good. It was a good check up for me on the things we allow Emma to do and not do. He actually said it was really good brain development for kids to run around screaming and going crazy. I would have never known! There were a few other things that he talked about which I kind of knew-but its always a good reminder. When I picked up Emma, she didn't really have any interest in seeing the rest of the school-and since that is where I went to school I knew the jist of it-so we took off after the speaker.

It was a fun night for Emma & I. Its just hard to believe its getting to be that time. I just hope that come September all of the hormones related to being pregnant are gone-as I'm sure I won't need any help with bringing on the water works. :)

Be prepared! It is hard, I cried. However it is so nice that Jonathan is in school for a couple of hours each day! I LOVE IT! It gives me time to spend one on one time with Owen.

I'm glad you had fun - and congratulations with keeping the tears in check! From what I've heard...I don't think you'll be able to hold them back on the 1st day of school. But good luck! :)

Wow- I can't believe she is getting that age already! You are a great Mom Jami and I am sure that although it will be hard to see her go to school it will be a blast hearing her stories about new friends and what she learns:) Jill

Glad she had fun and that you enjoyed the speaker. It is nuts that it's almost time for our girls to be old enough for school. It seems like just yesterday they were babies.

Preschool is great! (Not that I am biased... being a preschool teacher and all). It's weird thinking of you sending kids to HC though! We are getting old. :)
